Friday a group of twelve of us (1 Canadian, 1 Swiss, 1 German, 9 Dutch) took the train to Copenhagen and spent the night and most of today in the city. While in Copenhagen we stayed at the Danhostel, the largest city hostel in Europe with 1020 rooms (http://www.danhostel.dk/vandrerhjem.asp?lan=uk&id=144).
Friday night we went to a club called Vega, a four-story nightclub with three different dancefloors/bars, each spinning different genres of music (one floor was playing 90's alternative rock, another contained a live electronica group and the third included a DJ spinning hip-hop and latin music). We learned quickly that smoking is permitted inside both the clubs and restaurants in Denmark... (also, clubs are open until 5/6am and drinking is permitted on the streets)
Saturday we went out for breakfast then hit some of the touristy sites in Copenhagen including the parliament buildings, the changing of the guard and the Little Mermaid statue (created in honor of Hans Christian Andersen, the author of the Little Mermaid).

First Snow
On Monday, it snowed for the first time since I have been in Lund. Myself and Ewout, a friend from Belgium, took a few pictures of Lund in the snow and also a few from within the old cathedral in the center of town.

International Student Welcome Party
Last night was the university's party welcoming the new exchange students to Lund. A bunch of us predrank in our residence before biking over to the party at Kårhuset, a building located in the LTH campus where I'm taking my engineering courses. It was probably the best party of the term so far!

Tour of Ystad
Hey all - so my first week in Sweden has been crazy so far, partied the first four nights and met a lot of new people from all over the world. On Sunday a guided tour took large groups of exchange students to Ystad, a Medieval town located on the Baltic sea at the southern most part of Sweden, about one hour southeast of Lund. We stopped off at the town's main church and grabbed lunch from a small cafe (my sandwich had a kind of beet puree on it - tastes as good as it sounds!) From there, the tour proceeded to a small and relatively unattractince castle called Glimmingehus, about another 1.5 hrs from Ystad. The pictures below are from these two places.
